#tide ocean material collects and processes ocean-bound plastic into raw materials for watches, furniture and clothing. The raw materials are used by brands such as Maurice Lacroix, Tom Ford, Hugo Boss and Winter & Company.

How would you describe your solution in a few words?

We are giving value to ocean-bound plastic waste in two ways:

  1. Working with the OST University of Applied Sciences, we have developed a process to convert this waste into a high-quality raw material using a purely mechanical process and without the addition of virgin plastic.
  2. We have created our own value chain. The plastic waste is collected by local communities in structurally weak regions and processed locally. Working with local social enterprises creates jobs and additional income.

Who are your customers?

The #tide recyclates (PET, PP, HDPE, LDPE) are suitable for numerous applications. Our customers are brands that require plastics as well as plastic processors such as injection molding factories, yarn spinning mills, textile weaving mills, etc. The focus is on the following industries: Automotive, carpeting/home furnishings, cosmetics, packaging.

What are the environmental benefits of your solution?

  1. We give value to waste and thus combat the pollution of oceans and coastal regions. Every year, 12 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean. This has far-reaching consequences for biodiversity, climate change and coastal populations.
  2. In order to protect the climate, it is essential to stop the extraction of fossil resources. Plastic recycling is one way of doing that.
  3. with #tide recyclates you can effectively save CO2. Our rPET causes a fifth of the CO2 footprint of virgin material.
  4. plastic recycling requires only about half the energy needed to make new plastic from fossil resources.

How do you manage to exist on the market?

Thanks to specially developed processes, we achieve high and, most importantly, consistent material quality. We offer our global grades in uniform quality worldwide, regardless of the region in which they are sourced. Processors can therefore rely on consistent results.

According to market feedback, this consistency is unmatched, especially when it comes to recyclates from ocean-bound feedstocks. We also hold numerous certifications.

The credibility of #tide ocean material as a label for transparency, impact and traceability is also unique: we give value to waste and track it from sourcing to recycling.
