Green Business Award
If we are to preserve our planet for future generations, the economy must be part of the solution.
Innovation, speed and scale are the keys to success!
That is why each year the Green Business Award recognises the most promising business solutions that combine ecological impact with economic success.
Together with Impact Gstaad, we provide our finalists who want to scale their solutions internationally access to suitable investors to maximise their global impact.
With the support of our media partner Ringier / Green Circle, the success stories of our nominees serve as an inspiration to other business leaders throughout Switzerland.
The Green Business Award is presented by Swiss business organisations, the WWF and the Swiss Confederation.
Companies cannot apply for the award themselves. Instead, we rely on the most relevant national scouts who know their markets very well.
All nominated companies then undergo an extensive, multi-stage judging process to ensure the highest quality. The main jury is chaired by former Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard.
Who can be nominated?
We are looking for entrepreneurial solutions that combine ecological impact with economic success.
- These are scale-up companies with innovative products, new technologies or services that can make a substantial contribution to solving the global ecological challenges of our time. These solutions have been on the market for at least two years and confirm their “product-market fit” with initial successes. The growth phase has been reached or the company is about to enter it.
- Established SMEs or large companies that have transformed their existing business model in an innovative way towards genuine sustainability – for example by implementing a circular economy or achieving climate neutrality – are also eligible for nomination. They should play a pioneering role within their industry.
- The concrete environmental impact of all solutions must be measurable or allow for a credible estimate.
- The social dimension of sustainability must not be negatively affected.
- All solutions must have a relevant connection to Switzerland as a business location.
- Potential award winners and their solutions must have the power to inspire people.
Excluded from participation are Administrations (exception: within the framework of public-private partnerships), NGOs and foundations, and sponsoring partners.
