Smart Bike Parking
V-Locker
Scroll-down Scroll down

Bicycles parked in public places are often vandalised or stolen. With an intelligent, digital bike parking system, V-Locker offers secure lockers for bikes and luggage, thereby encouraging people to switch from cars.

How would you describe your solution in a few words?

The young Swiss company V-Locker AG has developed a “Smart Bike Parking System”. A hybrid concept consisting of hardware components – the automated parking module V-Locker – and software components – the IoT platform.

The system is a modular, mass-producible lightweight construction that guarantees every cyclist a “24/7” secure individual locker for bike and luggage.

Secondly, it provides cyclists with a booking and operation interface via their mobile phone, as well as instant customer support and value-added services such as e-charging, bike repair, shopping delivery, and even a sharing feature with family and friends.

Who are your customers?

Public customers (B2G)

  • Cities, municipalities, transport companies
  • Universities, hospitals, schools, etc.

Private customers (B2B)

  • Airports, shopping malls, hotels, employers, housing cooperatives, real estate investors
    User (B2C)
  • All cyclists

What are the environmental benefits of your solution?

Smart and sustainable infrastructure

  • V-Locker compacts the parking areas for bicycles, replaces underground “bicycle cellars” and reduces CO2 emissions by 90% compared to modular design and extremely short construction times
  • With the provision of local clean energy for its park infrastructure with the help of PV facades and e.g. wind turbines on the tower modules.
  • V-Locker systems can be used for a long time. Can be dismantled and reused at a new location. A large part of the construction materials, such as steel construction and boxes, can be reused.

How do you manage to exist on the market?

In Germany, the DB Bike & Ride Offensive expects to create 1.5 million parking spaces at its 5,000 stations and stops by 2030. With other locations in Germany, it is about 2-3 million bicycle parking spaces in the same period.

In the Netherlands, together with our partner BAM Infra and the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure, a market potential of 1200 locations for micromobility hubs was identified – with at least 20 V-Locker boxes per location.

Switzerland (SBB) and Austria (ÖBB) are relatively smaller markets with 800 and 500 stations and stops respectively, but are still noteworthy with almost 500,000 parking spaces by the end of 2030.
