HeiQ AeoniQ(TM) is a cellulose yarn that can replace polyester and other filament yarns and is biodegradable in 12 weeks. It uses renewable resources such as agricultural waste. By replacing polyester, it avoids microplastic- and landfill pollution.

How would you describe your solution in a few words?

HeiQ AeoniQ™ is a continuous cellulosic filament yarn, made to replace oil-based fibers such as polyester, endlessly recyclable and biodegradable in just 12 weeks at the end of its lifecycle.

What are the environmental benefits of your solution?

HeiQ AeoniQ™ can rely on a variety of renewable feedstocks such as non-valorized agricultural waste that otherwise would be unused trash, causing methane emissions. By replacing polyester, it will prevent microplastic shedding. Fossil-fuel-based fiber end up landfills for centuries as currently happening.

Since HeiQ AeoniQ™ is endlessly recyclable and fully biodegradable at the end of its lifecycle we can clearly state “from nature for nature”.

How do you manage to exist on the market?

The HeiQ AeoniQ™ project attracted relevant partners such as HUGO BOSS, The Lycra Company, and MAS Holdings. The first capsule collection by HUGO BOSS – that acted as a proof of concept – was released in January 2023, just 15 months after the project was launched.

The scale-up factory is being set up in Portugal to reach a yearly production of 3.000 ton by 2026, following a successful start with a pilot-plant in Austria.

2023 was our year of market inception: three product launches with Hugo Boss, two fabric collections with Beste Spa Italy for Milano Unica and two fabric collections with Feinjersey Austria for Premiere Vision.
