CO2-neutral production site
Dätwyler Schweiz AG
Scroll-down Scroll down

How would you describe your solution?

The Swiss Datwyler site is a good example of responsible use of natural resources. Since 2008, the site has obtained process and heating energy from a nearby wood-fired heating plant. Since 2012, Datwyler has also sourced only environmentally friendly electricity, 100% of which is generated from hydropower. Thanks to the use of renewable energies, the production site in Schattdorf has been CO2 neutral (Scope 1 and 2) since 2012.

Our most recent project to date was the Cooling System. The use of groundwater for air conditioning, ventilation and certain processes reduced electricity demand significantly despite higher sales.

Who are your customers?

Datwyler produces system-critical elastomer components for customers in the global healthcare, mobility, food & beverage and general industries market segments.

What are the environmental benefits of your solution?

By sourcing electricity from hydropower, CO2 emissions are reduced by 2,300 tonnes per year. By sourcing process and heating energy, Datwyler continues to save around 500,000 litres of heating oil annually and reduces CO2 emissions by a further 1,300 metric tons per year. As a result, the site Schattdorf has no longer required fossil fuels since 2012.

With the latest project (groundwater cooling), the electricity requirement is over 60% lower compared to a conventional solution with chillers.
