M-Check makes sustainable shopping easier. Together with external experts, Migros has developed a sustainability scale. On a scale of 1 to 5, analogous to a hotel rating, M-Check ranks Migros’ own brands in terms of climate compatibility, animal welfare, environmentally friendly packaging, and fish from responsible sources. This gives you an overview of how the product performs in this area compared to the overall range. The more stars, the more sustainable.

What are the environmental benefits of your solution?
With the M-Check, Migros not only shows which products perform well, but also where there is still need for action. In this respect, the M-Check also serves as an internal “currency” for developing the product range more sustainably. By showing customers transparently which products are sustainable and how, Migros makes it easier for them to choose sustainable products. The further development of the product range towards more sustainability and at the same time a change in purchasing behavior towards more stars will have a positive effect on the environment in the longer term.
How do you manage to exist on the market?
The M-Check is unique throughout Europe. To date, there is no comparable sustainability scale. By 2025, 100% of all Migros own brands will have the M-Check. In addition, the M-Check is continuously being further developed. New dimensions are added and existing dimensions always meet the latest content requirements. Through tracking and studies, the actual impact on the environment can be measured continuously.
