Bananatex\u00ae from QWSTION is the first biodegradable and plastic-free fabric made from abac\u00e1 banana plants. These grow sustainably in the Philippines without pesticides, fertilizers or additional water. They contribute to reforestation and biodiversity and improve the income of local farmers. Bananatex\u00ae works with fashion, footwear and furniture brands.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How would you describe your solution in a few words?<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Abaca\u0301 banana plant, from which Bananatex\u00ae is created, is cultivated in the Philippine mid- and highlands within a natural ecosystem of sustainable mixed agriculture and forestry, the plant is sturdy and self-sufficient, requiring no pesticides, fertilizer or extra water. What are the environmental benefits of your solution?<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Abac\u00e1 banana plants grow in the wild or in agroforestry environments, where different plants and crops complement each other, slightly managed by smallholder farmers. These communities generate a stable source of income by harvesting the fibres on a regular basis.
