Capt’n Greenfin has been on the mission to make fishing more sustainable since June 2022. We achieve this by innovating and developing new sustainable materials that can be used to make eco-friendly fishing products to maintain a healthy ecosystem and stop polluting our waters.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How would you describe your solution in a few words?
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Greenfin Softbait is the first 100% plastic-free softbait that can be fished like any other softbait but, when lost, dissolves within 3 weeks underwater and can be eaten by microorganisms. It is safe for fish and nature, according to our OECD-249 toxtest.<\/p>\n

Due to our protein-based material, we are the only ones who offer fish truly what they are looking for: proteins. What are the environmental benefits of your solution?

Fishermen often use artificial fishing lures made from plastics to catch fish. The problem with artificial lures is that they are often lost. In Europe, 1300 tons of plastic baits and 1300 tons of lead weights end up every year in our lakes and rivers due to the loss of fishing baits. They usually contain toxic plasticizers and materials that should not end up in the environment. Our innovations and the trend towards environmentally friendly alternatives give us credibility and visibility in the fishing industry. 90% of fishing products are produced in China and contain problematic materials. Capt\u2019n Greenfin produces as locally as possible with sustainable materials and involve the community in the product development. This enables the Swiss startup to launch new products quickly and help fishermen to catch more fish sustainable.<\/p>\n
