How would you describe your solution in a few words?

The Microlino is not a car, but a light electric vehicle that offers space for two people, a range of up to 230 km and a maximum speed of 90 km/h. It can be charged in any normal household socket in 4 hours and weighs just under 500 kg including the battery. Thus, compared to a conventional e-car, the Microlino requires only about a third of the energy per 100 kilometers and saves more than half of the CO2 emissions during production. With its unique front door, it can be easily crossparked, requiring only a third of a normal parking space.

Who are your customers?

The Microlino is targeted at customers who are looking for a more environmentally friendly and practical alternative to a traditional car for commuting and short trips. The vehicle is particularly popular among urban dwellers, who have limited space for parking and are looking for a compact and efficient mode of transportation. As well as people who live more outside of urban centers where public transport is limited.

What are the environmental benefits of your solution?

Compared to a conventional electric car, the Microlino consumes about a third of the energy per 100 km and emits less than half of the emissions in production. For example, the Microlino requires only about 7 kWh per 100 km, while an e-SUV needs more than 19 kWh and the same distance by train in Switzerland averages 9 to 11 kWh. This is mainly due to the low weight of 500 kg and the smaller battery. To put this in perspective, the Microlino including passengers weighs less than the battery of an E-SUV alone.

How do you manage to exist on the market?

The trend in the automotive industry is going completely in the other direction. Fewer and fewer small and light vehicles are being launched on the market and more and more is being placed on SUV’s, which are economically more profitable. We are exploiting this gap in the market, because customer demand for lighter and more sustainable vehicles will continue to grow in the future. The current almost non-existent competition in the market allows us to place our product as the “first mover” and become the emblem for light electric vehicles. We have already achieved this once with the launch of the Micro Scooter, which is now sold in over 80 countries.
