Oxara develops cement-free and therefore climate-friendly building materials. With its patented technology, Oxara converts mineral waste materials, which currently largely end up in landfills, into sustainable building materials.

How would you describe your solution in a few words?

Decarbonising the building materials industry, divesting from cement, and fostering a circular economy pose significant challenges for the construction sector.

Oxara develops cement-free admixture and binder technology to promote circular economy, low CO2 building materials, and resources efficiency.

With our patented technology (Oxacrete® and Oxabrick®), Oxara transforms mineral waste materials, which today are mostly sent to landfill, into sustainable local building materials.

By reimagining waste as a valuable resource, we actively contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable and regenerative construction industry.

Who are your customers?

Our clientele are material producers & recycling companies who must widen their product portfolios with sustainable & circular products and want to reuse existing waste materials to generate new revenue streams. On top, we’re advising architects, planners, and developers on material choices and use.

What are the environmental benefits of your solution?

Sustainability and circularity are at the core of Oxara. The cement-free materials consist of at least 70% reused materials from the industry. Tapping into these waste streams allows to decrease the consumption of primary resources significantly and prohibits mining and its negative impacts.

Besides circularity and the minimized consumption of primary resources, the material-related CO2 emissions of Oxara’s building materials are 75-90% lower compared to conventional products. As Oxara products offer a wide range of applications, the technology can replace 20-30% of the global cement market which results in a 1.5-billion-ton CO2 reduction, when applied at scale.

How do you manage to exist on the market?

With sustainability becoming more and more important, Oxara has the great advantage that the innovation facilitates the production of a novel type of concrete, free from any cement & diverging significantly from conventional building materials. Oxara’s technology offers two key advantages: 1), it facilitates the production of cement-free concrete with a markedly lower CO2 footprint compared to conventional materials; 2), it mitigates the landfilling of mineral waste materials, such as excavation & demolition waste, by reintegrating them into the construction cycle.
